Treatment

Physical Therapy meets Chiropractic Treatment and Massage Therapy.
Dr. Roger Rahn and Angela Rahn, MPT, have combined their knowledge in
Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, and Chiropractic Medicine to attack one
of the most difficult and prevalent type of injury, Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome. Unfortunately, most cases are often misdiagnosed cases of
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, or are true cases of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
caused by Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. So, treating the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
alone only addresses the symptom and not the source of the problem.
Our Non-Surgical Neurovascular Decompression Technique (Protocol) for
treating Carpal Tunnel /Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
consists of the following:
-
A thorough evaluation - for an accurate diagnosis.
-
Cryotherapy and/or E-stim - to reduce swelling.
-
Ultrasound - to increase the flexibility of tight tissues & reduce
swelling by promoting intracellular circulation.
-
Deep Therapeutic Massage - to decrease muscle spasm & promote circulation.
-
Mobilization - of restricted joints and tight tissues; to decrease pain
and muscle spasm.
-
Bracing - to prevent further injury and allow tissues to heal.
-
Rehabilitation - consisting of a stretching and strengthening exercise
program.
-
Ergonomic training - to prevent further damage and reoccurrence.
-
Education - (last but NOT least) We teach you how YOU can help YOURSELF!
We have developed a10 page written
Treatment
Protocol
for carpal tunnel presentations (including all types of arm
pain). One page is the actual treatment guarantee. We look at different
causes of carpal tunnel pain. This includes:
-
A compressed nerve root in the neck.
-
Muscle spasm in the front of the
shoulder (which oftentimes does not hurt at all, but hinders blood flow
from the arm to the body, thereby causing swelling in the hand).
-
Muscle spasm in the arm
-
Damage to the carpal tunnel (a fall can
stretch the ligaments so the tunnel is not stable, and then certain
activity can cause swelling).

The results of this treatment are exceptional. There is no substitute for
the full program under providers properly trained in these techniques.
However, if a patient were to live out of our area and decided to travel
to Dr. Rahn for treatment, a two-week period is usually sufficient to
reverse the degenerative direction of the disease process. At least the
patient would be fully aware of what a good treatment should include, and
be fully versed in the home care aspects of this protocol.
